Description: The Michigan House Democratic Caucus is seeking a highly experienced and effective digital media advisor to join its communications department and create multimedia and digital content for the Caucus and its members.

The digital media advisor will primarily develop and implement strategic and proactive digital programs and campaigns for social media that provide consistent, effective communications for Caucus members, constituents, stakeholders, the general public and journalists.


As a digital media advisor, you’ll create compelling content that shares our story and vision, promotes our values and priorities, and makes an impact across many different social and digital platforms. More specifically, you’ll get to:


  • Conceptualize, produce, create, edit and publish video content.
  • Develop and execute proactive, innovative digital media communications to support mission-critical outcomes and creating high-profile communications, strategic programs and creative assets. 
  • Establish, maintain and strengthen relationships with internal and external stakeholders to effectively engage, collaborate and coordinate with multifunctional leads in a matrix organization.

This position is based in Lansing, Michigan, reports to the Creative Director and provides the opportunity to engage directly with policymakers, influencers and key leaders in the government, nonprofit, community, civic and nonprofit sectors throughout the state and across the country.


Salary Range: Commensurate with experience and competitive.  

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three to five years of relevant digital media experience with direct ability to produce video, graphic, social and interactive content.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in communication, public relations, journalism, marketing or another related field.
  • Energy, enthusiasm and proven experience with digital content strategy, planning, messaging and creation for a broad spectrum of audiences, topics and channels.
  • Ability to excel and manage shifting priorities under tight deadlines in a complex and fast-paced environment and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders within a matrixed organization.
  • Exceptional communication (writing, verbal, nonverbal, graphic, digital and social) capabilities with excellent interpersonal, presentation, public speaking, negotiation, advocacy and persuasion skills.

 Preferred Requirements

  • Strong communications acumen and knowledge of the digital landscape and an ability to translate trends into communication opportunities.
  • Strong understanding or video, social media, including influencer marketing and the intersection with traditional media and public opinion.
  • Prior political, public affairs or campaign experience.
