Description:
This is a full-time position in the Lansing office of the Michigan House Democratic Caucus. The Press Secretary will serve as the spokesperson for Minority Leader Donna Lasinski and the democratic caucus and be the only staff person “on the record.” The Press Secretary will also be responsible for the following:
Salary Range: $45,000 - $65,000
Minimum Qualifications: Previous experience serving as a spokesperson, working knowledge of the legislative process and understanding of policy development; existing media relationships and proven ability to build new relationships with media; exceptional writing and editing skill;, excellent interpersonal skills; thorough message development experience; strategic issue management; knowledge and relevance of social media; experience in crisis management and/or rapid-response activities; ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced environment with a diverse staff and caucus members; strong work ethic, strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines. Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism or equivalent experience in the industry.
